Since the first lockdown, Empire East communities continue standing together for a noble, homeowner-led Bayanihan effort to aid neighbors in the form of community pantries within their properties.

The first "community pantry" in Quezon City with a simple yet impactful message of giving what you can and getting what you need has touched the hearts of thousands of Filipinos, driving them to replicate the cause within their neighborhood.

With the increasing number of pop-ups in various locations, homeowners from Empire East's residential developments have started to organize one within their communities.

Some of the notable ones are Pioneer Woodlands', a joint effort between the homeowners and the admin, and Little Baguio Terraces, which is purely homeowner-led.

Through the collaborative efforts of the homeowners and admin staff, they raised funds to buy fresh food and vegetables for the free enjoyment of those who are in need - such as neighbors who may have lost their jobs due to the extension of quarantine.

"This pandemic is telling me that although I am safe in my unit, I have neighbors who cannot sleep, with kids who may be unable to study because they have nothing to eat. And this is what bothers me. Nobody should be made to suffer alone through this," said Tina, a resident of Pioneer Woodlands.

At Pioneer Woodlands, the residents put up their pantry in the basement near the parking area. Aside from donations and goods for distribution, the admin also put up safety signs within the vicinity to remind volunteers and recipients to follow social distancing guidelines.

Meanwhile, the residents of Little Baguio Terraces partnered with another community to organize their community pantry. Putting boundaries aside, two communities come together with a unified goal in mind, which is to help and lend a hand to those in need.

At the entrance of Little Baguio Terraces, a table full of fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, and canned goods were neatly lined up and organized. With the help of donors and volunteers, the LBT pantry was declared a success from the get-go.

Careful adherence to the safety protocol is being done in these pantries so that transmission of COVID-19 will be at zero.
