One has to look beyond to see that small actions can go a long way. This is what Empire East believed when they spent the day with the elderlies of the San Jose Balay Alima Foundation in Brgy. Carasuchi, Indang, Cavite.

Upon arrival, a peaceful and nature-filled venue greeted the eager volunteers, which proved how much of a conducive place it is for the elderlies. The seniors also wholeheartedly welcomed their visitors and proceeded to partake a sumptuous lunch with them. Much to everyone's surprise, they also prepared a dance performance featuring a piece of medley music from the 70s!

A series of parlor games ensued, keeping everybody up on his feet and smiling. Stories of the past were told and passed around, increasing the camaraderie among the group.

Lola Mercy, aged 85, couldn't help but express an overwhelming joy during the gift-giving ceremony as seen from her happy tears.

"The experience is very inspiring for us. To be able to share the blessings to people like them is priceless. The experience is not about how much money we give; but more about the gift of companionship and attention. It's about offering quality time to the members of our community who miss it. We hope that they will never feel like they were abandoned and forgotten. We hope people will continuously visit them so that they will always feel that someone still cares for them," says Ms. Kim Manansala from Empire East.

The San Jose Balay Alima Foundation also celebrated its 25th year last March 23, 2019. You may donate in kind through their PNB account: San Jose Balay Alima Inc.
