The past year has been challenging for all of us. The ongoing pandemic has taken its toll on people, businesses, and, most especially, relationships. Meanwhile, as the world tries to cope and recover, the situation has transformed how we communicate and socialize, and modern technology has taken the spotlight since.
With its newly launched initiative, 'Social Spaces,' Empire East aims to strengthen and build meaningful connections among its employees by creating micro-communities where like-minded individuals with shared interests can gather and socialize at their leisure.
"We believe that Social Spaces are important to continue engaging with a group of people who share your same interests despite the physical distancing we have been implementing. Through this, people can have a safe space, which can also serve as a breather amid hectic schedules," said Ms. Cosca Tuason, Senior Manager of the company's Human Resources Department.
Empire East believes that taking a break from work, socializing, and making time for your hobbies and interests are crucial to maintaining our mental health.
President Atty. Anthony Charlemagne C. Yu says that once this project successfully takes off, it will also serve as a means for the company to reach out to the local community. He explains, "We hope that Social Spaces will encourage a happy exchange of ideas and camaraderie that will eventually lead to volunteerism so we can also share our gifts and make meaningful impacts on our local community. One of our Social Spaces shall specialize in CSR efforts so employees can volunteer in official outreach programs that aim to help students, kids, and the elderly in attaining common good and improved lifestyles."
Empire East launched its five CSR pillars under the 'Empire East Cares' program in 2019, which focus on providing support for adolescents and a voice for the elderly (Project SAVE), elevating the literacy rate (EXCELerate), edifying the Filipino family as the basic unit of society (UNITed), caring for the environment (SustainABLE), and addressing health concerns (HEALth).
Empire East's Social Spaces programs offer various categories according to one's interests and hobbies: Bible Study, Gaming, K-Culture, Book Lovers, Photography, Film, Music and Arts, Cooking, Pets, etc.
This is part of the company's effort to unite employees by initiating projects that aim to fulfill community-centered goals.
As we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month this October, Empire East eyes ignite awareness and amplify the importance of building meaningful relationships that spark one's soul. Let this also be a reminder for everyone to reconnect with themselves and their loved ones today.
